Though not an inherently protective substance, coffee does possess the qualities of clarity and power enhancement, making it a boost to any magical working. Using it as a base for a potion gives the resulting creation more energy and a stronger focusâa definite plus when making something to grant protection. Though a great many people have enjoyed this coffee-based potion (during autumn it is ubiquitous), most arenât aware of its full magical potential.
Pumpkin Spice Coffee Protection*
Not only can this mixture be made right at home for protective purposes but the coffee shop version can be empowered for the same purpose (though I think the homemade version is strongest).
Items Needed
1 cup milk
1 tablespoon pumpkin puree (optional)
2 teaspoons light brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
¼ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
½ cup strong coffee
Though there are variations in recipes, as far as I am concerned the best version of pumpkin pie spice is a blend of the following: 1 tablespoon cinnamon, 1 teaspoon nutmeg, 1 teaspoon ginger, 2 teaspoons allspice, and ½ teaspoon cloves. This can be mixed together in advance and used in baking and potions as needed. The spice mixture is powerful and can be charged for love, protection, and healing. Though this version is the one I used in the recipe, a store-bought blend can be used instead if need be. Returning to the recipe at hand, empower each of the ingredients for protection. In the cauldron over medium heat, warm the milk (and the pumpkin puree, if using) and the light brown sugar, whisking to blend. Keep stirring until the milk begins to steam, being careful to avoid boiling it. When the steam has risen, remove from heat and whisk in the vanilla and ¼ teaspoon of the pumpkin pie spice. Whisk in the coffee until blended and frothy. Drink as desired to infuse yourself with protection.
Cloak of the Dark Goddess
Protection Potion
Not only does this potion contain herbs that are highly protective in nature, they are also aligned with dark goddess energy. The mixture brings magical protection and can also be used to help connect with dark goddesses, though the potion is still effective even without divine assistance.
Items Needed
2 cups water
½ cup blackberries
1 tablespoon dried dark red rose petals
1 tablespoon elder flowers
1 teaspoon mint
¼ teaspoon mugwort
Pinch wormwood
Garlic peels (optional)
Empower the ingredients and if you wish, call upon a dark goddess with whom you have an affinity, asking that she bestow protective power into the potion. Next, brew in the usual manner, muddling the blackberries into the water before adding the herbs. The garlic peels are included to help align with the power of Hecate specifically without imparting a heavy garlic flavor. If you are not calling upon her, they can be omitted. Once the potion has cooled, strain and sweeten it as desired and as you drink focus on the chosen dark goddess and again ask for protection (if desired). Though it is better to call on deities only if you have a preexisting relationship with them, some examples
